“My 8-year-old son has had this for two months, and it’s getting worse 😟 What could it be?” (See the first comment below 👇)
Physical urticaria: caused by scratching, exposure to cold, constant pressure on the skin, sun exposure, or increased body temperature.
Common causes include: allergic reactions, infections (bacterial and viral), and emotional stress.
While most hives do not require treatment because they disappear within 24 hours, if they persist, your doctor may prescribe antihistamines, steroid tablets, or menthol cream to relieve the itching.
If you have allergies, you're more likely to develop hives. They can also appear if you're taking certain medications or if you come into contact with something you didn't know you were allergic to, such as a food, pollen, or even something in your environment. Additionally, when you're sick or have another condition, your body may be more sensitive than usual, making you more prone to hives.
